Workplay Publishing takes its role of independent publication seriously, accepting and publishing only professional quality manuscripts by dedicated authors. We also realize that publication it is not the sole purpose of writing, and hope to provide encouragement and support to any writer at any stage of the writing process.
Our Services
Copyright
Authors at Workplay Publishing retain full copyright to their publications.
ISBN
Books published through Workplay Publishing receive a unique ISBN for books to be sold at retail.
Workplay Publishing designs manuscripts for print in a variety of common sizes and styles.
Cover design is offered as an extra service. Authors are free to use their own designers as well.
Design
After printing and distribution fees, Workplay Publishing retains 10% of the cover price per book sold for the life of the book. All remaining profits are paid directly to the author on a biannual basis.
Royalties
Workplay Publishing provides copy editing (spelling, grammar, etc.) for finished manuscripts prior to publication.
Developmental editing is a separate service not included in the publishing package.
Editing
Workplay Publishing charges a one-time setup fee of $799.00 for a prose book with a finished printing length of 250 pages or less, or $599 for a poetry book with a finished printing length of 125 pages or less.
For higher page counts, an additional fee of $0.95 per page will be assessed due to increased hours for layout design and copy editing.

André Swartley
Co-Owner / Editor / Designer
André is an award-winning author of five books, with twenty-five years of experience teaching English. His novels have earned distinctions through the Next Generation Indie Book Awards, the Chanticleer International Book Awards, and the Indiana State Library. André has worked on projects with respected industry editors Alan Rinzler and Juliet Ullman.
Kate Swartley
Co-Owner / Test Reader
Kate has nearly two decades of experience teaching Spanish at all levels from elementary to university. She is a speedy, bilingual, and omnivorous reader. Her interests run the gamut from memoirs and literary fiction to romantasy and fan fic.
